The Jim Nielsen family came to Preston from Moroni, Utah. They came to run the farm for Dan Nicholas who was retiring at that time. The family of four boys went to school in Preston and to high school in Lund. The boys were James Loyal, Paul David, Earl Ray and Lynn C.

They also attended church and participated in all activities of the small town. The three oldest boys, James (Jim), Paul and Earl, entered the service from Preston.

James W. was one of the last bishops of Preston as the town's population was starting to dwindle. Hanna was active in the Relief Society. The Nielsen family moved back to Moroni where Jim and Hanna had a home. One of the boys built a new home near by.
